01/22/20 Meeting Notes

Neighborhood Consultation

Recognizing that people associated with any location considering the possibility of providing a place for shelter or safe parking would have multiple questions, the task force requested a local pastor to consult with a number (10-12) of people connected to his church and provide us with a list of the questions they raised. Some time was spent discussing the list and it was suggested that a leaflet might be prepared to answer questions like these to be used to advise the public when experiments and other considerations are taking place.

Additional discussions took place around ways of building relationships around the sharing of food.

Permitting Process

We recognize that a permitting process is clearly the most immediate way to make provision for folk who fulfill all the criteria in advance of the parking ordinance coming into effect. Details relating to other programs in operation were circulated and discussed and it was agreed that we should continue to pursue discussions with the city with a view to having a permitting process in place as soon as possible.

Draft Safe Parking Program for Pacifica

While a permitting process provided that most immediate solution the group agreed that it was important to continue to actively prepare plans and research locations for shelter and safe parking.  Many of the questions raised are addressed by the contract ( document circulated) provided by LifeMoves and it was agreed that this would provide an excellent starting point for any proposal we might have.

Communication

It was agreed to continue to publish the notes from our meeting as a communication to the public of our ongoing work.
